The hard and worthwhile life of anti-poaching patrol team in SW China
date:2016/11/28
An anti-poaching patrol team was established in 1995 by a group of volunteers from the Qiang ethnic group with the aim to protect the local ecology, wild animals and plants in Maoxian county, Southwest China's Sichuan province. Thanks to their efforts, some wildlife once on the brink of extinction is thriving.
They always climb high mountains and when the he altitude rises, at night it can fall as low as –20 ℃.They drills a hole into a frozen river to get water to wash vegetables when the team stops for meals at one of their camps on their patrol route on Jiudingshan mountain in Maoxian county, Southwest China's Sichuan province. The closest river is 500 meters away. At some other camps on the route, it takes a long time to find dry branches to start a fire to cook meals. They overnight at a simple half-rock and half-plastic-cloth shelter and the blazing bonfire is the only light in sight. Before the team got support from environmental organizations and the government, they did it by their own money.
What they do really touched my heart. What they are doing is to help to protect the balance of nature.
